TTG Modular Miniature Storage Cabinet

We highly recommend assembling the storage cabinet with no glue first, just to get a feel for how all the pieces fit together and then glue them together once you’re familiar with the process. The 1/4″ MDF wood we use was precision cut to provide a snug fit so some of the pieces may take a bit of effort to fit together but once glued will provide a sturdy cabinet.

A standard white wood-glue is best for gluing as it gives you more time to fit all the pieces together as compared to using crazy glue. We highly recommend using wood glue for the cabinet.

After gluing pieces together we recommend using masking tape (or painters masking tape) to hold the two pieces being glued snugly together until the glue dries.

Here is the order we recommend for assembling the cabinet.

Step 1 – Layout the main exterior cabinet pieces as shown above.
Please note that the notches which will hold the front cover must be facing down (as shown above).
Step 2 – Put glue on the tabs along the right edge and the bottom edge only. Raise the right side and bottom of the cabinet and fit them together to form the first three sides of the cabinet. The pieces will be snug, so you may need to push fairly hard to get them to go together without any gaps. This would also be a good time to place small pieces of masking tape along all of the edges to make sure the parts are setting without gaps.
Step 3 – Next put glue on the left and bottom/left side tabs and raise up the left side of the cabinet. Once again, it’s a good idea to place small pieces of masking tape along the edges being joined to hold the pieces together while the glue dries.
Step 4 – Next put glue on the top side tabs and attach the top part of the storage cabinet. Again, place some pieces of masking tape along the edges to hold the pieces together without gaps while the glue dries. Once the top piece is in place, and also held by pieces of masking tape you can attach the small front plate piece at the top (as shown above). Also secure it with some masking tape pieces while the glue dries.
Congratulations you’ve assembled the main part of the cabinet! Check once again to make sure all the pieces are snugly held together by the masking tape without gaps, and wait for the glue to dry (about 15-30mins should be good). Once the glue is dry, you can remove the pieces of masking tape.
Step 5 – Next we assemble the shelves. The shelves are a fairly straight forward design. Layout the pieces as shown above. Please note that the two little half-circle thumb-notches are for the front and back of the shelf. The sides don’t have those but they have a small gap in the bottom tabs which goes at the front of the shelf and acts as a mechanical “lock” to more securely hold the shelf in place in the cabinet.
Step 6 – Put glue along all the tabs and lift up the shelf pieces, and use some small pieces of masking tape to hold things together while the glue sets as in the other steps.
Step 7 – Next add the shelf holders at whichever height you desire for the shelves. Please note that these pieces DO NOT require glue (unless you really want to).
Step 8 – Slide the shelves in at the heights you selected. You’ll notice that the front of the shelf locks into place at the front. To pull a shelf out, simply lift the front a little bit before pulling it out.
Step 9 – Attach the handle to the front cover plate as shown above. If you purchased the optional acrylic front cover, make sure you remove the cardboard protective film on the acrylic before attaching the handle. Wood glue is recommended here as well, especially for the acrylic cover as superglue can leave a bit of a foggy area where you apply the glue.

Enjoy your new shelving unit! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
